General Pond Pal Information

Here is some general information about our classroom. You may find this helpful to answer some of the questions that you may have about your day.
Your child will eat snack at school each day. The school provides milk for the students each day. You are asked to send a “HEALTHY” snack such as fruit, veggies, graham crackers or dry cereal are all good options. Small portions work best as we are little and are just as excited to play when we are done as we are to eat!
Lunch will be at 11:30 this year. Students have approximately 20 minutes to eat and 30 minutes to play. Please take time to explain what the difference is between lunch and snack to your child. This seems silly but is a bit confusing when they are eating both at school. Make sure your child knows that they have a snack and a cold lunch or that they just have a lunch. This may ease any anxieties and confusion during the first few days. Please make sure to dress your child according to the weather so that they are comfortable outside for noon play. We go out unless it is raining or below 0 wind chill. Lunch account questions can be handled through Christy or Anne in the office. Thanks for your help with this!
Specialists-All-day kinders will be going to Art, Music and Phy. Ed. We will be on a 4 day rotation. Our rotation is Day1- Art, Day 2-Phy. Ed, Day 3- Music, Day 4-Phy. Ed. Please make sure that your student wears or brings tennis shoes on our Phy. Ed day so they are able to more easily participate.
Birthdays are a special time in kindergarten! Treats are permitted but must be store bought and individually wrapped (policy). We will celebrate on the day of their birthday, unless a birthday falls on a weekend, break or summer, in which case we will find a date that works best. If you are sending a treat we will have 21 students in our class this year (we may be adding friends as the year goes on)
Library- Our class will visit the library every Thursday. This year we will be going to the library for a story and Social skills with Mrs. Amy Miller prior to check out. Each kinder will be allowed to check out one book each week. You must return your library book in order to check out a new book. Please make sure that your child brings their book back to school by Wednesday each week.
Parent volunteers- Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering in the classroom. I try to make this as painless as possible. If you are interested in coming in just let me know and we would love to have your help! I will be putting a schedule together in October when we are starting to get into our normal routine.
Tuition payments will be handled through Portal or the AES office. Please see or contact Christy or Anne during school business hours.
