CARES

  • Cooperation * Assertion * Respect * Empathy * Self Control

The Annandale Elementary School core values are cooperation, assertion, respect, empathy and self-control otherwise known as C.A.R.E.S. Classrooms discuss, learn and review each value on a five week rotation. Week one of school students and staff (Cardinals) focus on Cooperation. On Week 25 Cardinals are focused on Self Control.  Do you know what Cardinals will be focused on during Week 30? Empathy. With each week Cardinals are provided the opportunity to participate in a social skills lesson, highlight an age appropriate book related to the value and social skill lesson and view a video related to that weeks value/skill. As opportunities arise throughout the day, week and year staff are working with students focusing their instruction and learning around C.A.R.E.S. Values.

Below is a timeline of which value Cardinals have focused on and will be focused on during a specific week.

COOPERATION is working together toward a common goal or idea!

ASSERTION is to do or say something positively in support of yourself or someone else.  ASSERTION is telling your needs and wants.  RESPECT is showing consideration and appreciation towards people, places and things!  EMPATHY is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.  SELF CONTROL is managing your own actions and emotions in an appropriate way.
